Welcome to Bee’s Knees Day Nursery

Welcome to Bee’s Knees Day Nursery in West Reading.  We are committed to providing a safe and stimulating environment for babies and children aged from 3 months to 5 years.

Our commitment is to give every child in our care a happy and fulfilling memory of childhood, while working with each parent’s wishes for their child as our guiding principle.

We like to regard ourselves as one part of the parenting team for each child, helping to give them confidence, experience, skills and social values which you want them to have. The process starts in the pre-school years, and is the foundation of a happy, healthy and well-adjusted child, beginning from birth.

Teddies 3months – 18 months

Teddies have a capacity for 15 babies aged from 3 months to 18months There is 1 adult present for every 3 babies of which 1 is the room senior (Lauren) qualified to NVQ level 3 in Teddies. The room senior is responsible for leading her team and ensuring the needs and requirements of each of the babies and young toddlers is met.

Education has the potential to begin here and we acknowledge the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum which recognises that babies can learn from birth. However, we carefully plan to ensure that emotional needs are met and that due love, care and attention is implemented giving each baby exactly what he or she needs to thrive.

One of our rooms is always equipped with wooden cots, sheets and blankets so each baby can sleep comfortably when necessary. Our team follows and records your baby’s routine.

Bear Cubs 18 months - 2.5 years

Bear Cubs has a capacity for 6 children aged 18 months - 2.5 years. There is 1 adult for every 3 children of which 1 is the room senior (Charlotte) qualified to NVQ level 3.The room senior is responsible for leading her team and ensuring the needs and requirements of each of the young toddlers is met.

Bear Cubs consist of 1 main room, well equiped with a large range of resources suited to the childrens age, and a creative room, which they share with the older children this is also where the children will have Lunch and Tea.

All the Bear Cubs follow the (EYFS) Early Years Foundation Stage and this is followed throughout thenursery day, through activities and planning the nursery routine.

Bumble Bees 2years - 3.5 years

Bumble bees has a capacity to hold 26 children aged 2 years - 3.5 years. There are 2 ratios within this room 1 adult to every 4 children aged 2-3 years and 1 adult to every 8 children aged 3 - 3.5 years. 1 adult is the room senior (Gemma) qualified to Level 3 and also the Deputy Manager.

The room senior is responsible for leading her team and ensuring the needs and requirements of each of the children needs are met.

Bumble Bees consists of 1 main room which has many age approprate toys and a computer with age appropriate programs and 2 creative room, 1 of which they share with the Bear Cubs.

All the Bumble Bees follow the (EYFS) Early Years Foundation Stage and this is followed throughout the nursery day through activities and planning and the nursery routine.

Ladybirds 3.5 years - 5 years

Ladybirds has the capacity to accomodate 10 children aged 3.5 years - 5years. the room is newly refurbished and has the 6 areas of learning required by the EYFS the Ladybird children have books that they write in daily and have grouptimes to suit their age.

There is 1 adult present for every 8 children, 1 of which is the room senior and also our Assistant Deputy Manager (Claire). The room senior is responsible for leading her team and ensuring the needs of the children are met.

All the Ladybirds  follow the (EYFS) Early years foundation stage and this is followed throughout the nursery day, through activities and planning and the nursery routine.
